Remaining popular for the next six decades, the theatre was last operated by Rogers Cinemas. (now Fox Corp.) took over the operation of the theatre and changed its name to the Fox Theatre. who opened the Majestic Roseland (a dance palace) on the second floor. In the mid-1920’s it was taken over by J.P. On November 1, 1920, it was reopened as the Majestic Theatre presenting a musical revue “All Aboard for Cuba” starring Don Lanning. Andrae between 1893-1894, the vaudeville/stage show theatre closed in 1915. The cost is $625 or $450 for commuters.Ī limited number of scholarships are available from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, COFAC and Continuing Education.The original name of this historic theatre was the Grand Opera House. The camp is directed by Chris Shofner, associate professor of media production. The week culminates in a screening of campers’ original work on Saturday. Camp COFAC-Video Production participants will have five full days of instruction in the Communication Arts Center, including daily workshops in screenwriting, video camera operation, audio production, and lighting.Students will work in the Noel Fine Arts Center classrooms and put on an exhibit of original artwork on Saturday. Camp COFAC-Studio Art offers hands-on classes in figure drawing, typography design and mixed media collage with instruction by UW-Stevens Point faculty members.The camp is directed by Mathew Buchman, professor of music. It culminates in a public concert on Saturday. Students immerse themselves in music, working closely with faculty members on their primary instrument in daily master classes and group lessons as well as large and group ensembles.
Camp COFAC-Music is open to vocalists, composers and instrumentalists of guitar, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and piano and is held at the Noel Fine Arts Center.Fees include all workshops, supplies, meals, lodging and evening social activities. Registration is open to those entering grades 9-12 as well as 2018 graduated seniors. Instructors are UW-Stevens Point faculty members. The three Camp COFAC options will be offered June 24-30, sponsored by the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) and Continuing Education.
